E-RACING GP GLOBAL EDITION 4 - SEASON FINALE - SILVERSTONE RACE REPORT.
The competition in our final round delivered some of the most exciting racing we've seen so far! Read on for the highlights from all categories.
Copper
Singaporean, Muhammad Zihni, scored a double win in Silverstone including pole position. His dominating performance also meant he would finish P3 in the championship. In Race 1, Sri Lankan driver, Anushka Mendis, was 2nd, with Bernard Chan in 3rd position, which meant he would be crowned Copper Champion.
In Race 2, Alex Chia solidified his runners up spot in the championship by finishing 2nd to Zihni with Sage Nice in 3rd position, which was his first podium in eRacing GP.
Bronze
Another Singaporean, Chris Chong, won Race 1 after a collision between Yanik David and Joriel Cruz on the last corner, allowing Chong to slip in for his first win in eRacing GP. This also meant that Joriel Cruz wrapped up the Bronze title to become champion.
In Race 2, Yanik’s brother, Yevin David, won his first race in our tournament. The 11-year-old finished ahead of Edward Wong and Jonathan Takumi Lee in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Silver
Haris Syahmi won Race 1 in a close fought race, with Zuriel Sumodobila in 2nd and Amer Harris in 3rd. The 3 cars were only separated by 1.2 seconds at the finish line.
In Race 2, Malaysian Ariff Azmi would win his first race with Muhammad Qalif and Rueben Wong finishing in 2nd and 3rd. Syahmi only finished 10th, but it was enough for him to become the Silver class champion. So after finishing runner-up in Copper and Bronze in previous editions, this would be his first championship win, and in a class higher than his previous podium finishes.
Gold
We saw a see-saw battle for the championship win in two frantic races in our Gold class. Muhammad Naquib won Race 1 with a last lap overtake on Muhammad Thasbeeh. Championship leader, Dillan Tan, would finish 2nd while Thasbeeh was 3rd. This meant that Tan only led Naquib by 2 points going into the second race.
In Race 2, Naquib got a bad start but slowly made his way up through the field. Tan, meanwhile, was being aggressive in the early laps and soon saw himself up to 5th position. However, a forcecul overtake on Ryan Keith resulted in contact and a spin for Tan. He fell to the back but was soon charging up through the field. Meanwhile Naquib had made it up to 4th on the last lap and soon took Thasbeeh for 3rd. At this point the championship was his. However, he tried an overtake on his brother, Nabil, on the last corner which his brother rebuffed, causing Naquib to fall back to 4th. Ayman Aqeem won, with Nabil 2nd and Thasbeeh 3rd - and Tan was crowned champion over Naquib by a solitary point.
We'd like to congratulate everyone who raced this season! Here's a look at updated driver rankings after 5 rounds of racing.
